Last week I received a verbal offer from my recruiter after 7+ months of team match, to which I showed some disagreement but not declined it. After almost a week of ghosting me, today recruiter came back saying that I again need to wait for other team match, since my expectations is higher than the budget of previous team. Does every team have different budget in Google to offer to L5 or any level candidates? Tc: 85lpa Google offer Tc: 1.2cr (1st year) Startup counter offer: 1.38cr YoE: 7+ #google #microsoft #amazon #salesforce #uber #coinbase #walmart
What was the breakdown ? Base ?
Also current base and level at microsoft ?
Comp above the range is an exception that requires VP approval. Either that team knows their VP will say no or they decided you weren't worth the battle.
Do you think even 1.2cr for first year for L5 will need VP approval?
1.2cr is definitely high for your experience and giving current economic situation.
I think they should have atleast given the offer letter with the verbal offer and let you decide whether you accept or reject
Yes, I also expected that
I am curious to know, how do you people actually spend 1.2 cr per year ... Even if you get 50% as much money. How do you guys actually spend ?
Indian cities easily take care of the expenditure my friend
Bro I am living in Chennai. But I didn't see much expenditure. Maybe u r saying some other cities. Do u people spend on Luxury cars, Latest gadgets ? Or just build up your investment portfolio ?
Sorry to say this to you op but if they withdrew the offer, you probably wont get another team match in this atmosphere and also all these details of team match and team match getting cancelled will be on your packet. Take the startup offer and move on, you probably wont get another match. Just giving you realistic picture. Same thing happened with one more person and he didn’t get another team match and his one year passed. Best of luck with startup, maybe blessing in disguise.
What'd the expected TC range for L5?
It can go till 1.5 crore depending years of experience and interview feedback but I don’t think you will get another team match. I think you should take the startup offer.
^ I don’t know about all that being in your packet. Budget is definitely a concern for teams right now. I did a TM then for my onsite interviewed with the whole team, including HM. They gave me very strong feedback and liked me a lot, but ultimately HM said she had to hire a lower level for budget reasons ultimately. I ended up matching with a different team a few months later.
Damn, I just assume it's safe to keep the expectations low and don't negotiate unless you are ready to leave the offer
Well there’s a very large difference between negotiating and paying for a completely different level. The team that I ended up taking the offer with, I did negotiate my offer and got an extra 20k. It doesn’t really hurt to negotiate.
@OP so sorry for you. In the current situation, it's better to keep your expectations low and show recruiter your acceptance with the lower offer as well. I have been in the similar boat with other companies. However your offer was quite decent. Rarely candidates are getting better offers than yours.
That was dumb. TM are few and far between. Should’ve taken the offfer.
Learnt the lesson hard way
