I have the following offer for L6 in Google cloud in Bay area. Base: $260K Bonus: 20% Equity: $700K (38/32/20/10) Y1 TC: around $576 Y2 TC: around $534 I was expecting a little more for L6, I have a few counter offers but they are lower than Google offer. How reasonable is this offer for Google L6? Any chance I could negotiate further? YOE: 10
Try meta - they will definitely pay you more. It is in Staff range but on the lower side of staff in the market, at least that’s my understanding. Btw - how is lacework doing?
Don’t take it. It’s too low
Very reasonable. G will go higher if you provide (and share) another offer. Otherwise, chances are of negotiation is low. In general though you will be above the median L6 comp. Congratulations 🎊 on the offer. What team is this in?
Yup. To increase this number, you will need a Meta offer or equivalent
Meta offer doesn’t always count dollar to dollar since it is considered low quality engineer’s environment
How was the interview? What kind of questions were asked?
Standard coding questions (Leetcode style) and system design
Not a bad offer at all. Google doesn't pay as much as one thinks from outside until you actually get an offer. Go for it.
It’s a good offer for L6.

Database companies that pay well for Staff SWE
They've started doing Noogler prorated refreshers, so the year 2 TC probably won't be nearly that low.
How does that work?
You should get a fraction of what you would get had you held the rating for a whole year. So if, for example, you got a S rating for the year and the target refresher for that was $120k, but you only worked for 8 months of the year, your refresher would be $80k, still vesting over 4 years.
