I haven’t actually received an offer yet, but recruiter had to get special approval to beat my competing offer given the TC for the level (non-eng). Should I still negotiate on the first offer I’m given even if it beats my competing offer and already had to go through special approval? If so, with what justification? #negotiation #offer #google Current tc: $225k
1. “Special approval” is BS 2. Non-eng roles don’t have a whole lot of negotiation leverage in FAANG. 3. It’s a bit weird if you give them a specific number that they meet and then you go and change your own number. Hard to justify, but you can go with something like, “I did some more research… blah blah” 4. If the recruiter gives you the take it or leave it vibe, you have reached the end of the line Location and YOE?

Any suggestions on how to ask for more when the offer is already awesome?
Say that the other company is still negotiating with you and they took some time to discuss whether they can beat your awesome Google offer. Then say that you’re willing not to wait for the other company update, and you’re ready to sign Google offer today if they increase your tc by 50k.
