A sourcer from Google reached out in November last year and connected me with a Recruiter for a role she thought I would be a good fit for. Recruiter didn’t respond for a week and then after two follow ups asked for my availability. Provided my availability to which she said she is no longer available that week so setup time for the following week. No invite, nothing didn’t even ask for my contact details so I gave her my number anyways. Eventually called me 7mins late that week and then was literally reading out the job description. However at the end of the call she felt very confident to move me to the next round and gave me full assurance. No response for a week and then sends me “regretful email” saying they are moving forward with other candidates. Similar experience AGAIN in Jan 2022. This other recruiter reaches out directly. Sets up time and we go through first call and once again with high confidence tells me I’m moving to next round which is the following week. No follow up email so I send multiple follow ups to which there was no response until a day before “Interview Day” he sends a long email explaining the next round will be 2 weeks later. I wait two weeks, no invite, no email follow up so once again I send 2 follow ups to understand if this is even happening to which again literally a day before interview he says the position is no longer open in Canada and will be only in US. 1st role: Engagement Manager 2nd role: Innovation Program Lead Is this common at Google? Anyone else faced a same kind of recruitment experience? Was expecting better from Google but maybe my expectations were just too high. #googlerecruitment #recruitmentexperience
Sounds about normal
My experience was also not great but I've come to expect a negative experience from most HR departments.
Are these recuites just trying to have some backup plan in case early approved candidates won’t accept offers? Hard to imagine they would constantly ditch other candidates like this…
Cast a wide net and cover all bases. Their performance review is based off how many accepted offers they have.
Going through the same chaos right now for sr PM position. I was approached by a recruiter and invited to apply. I provided my availability but no response. The Recruiter is ignoring my questions and pings.
I had similar v bad experience with a recruiter but my Sourcer was great . Had to ultimately complain about the recruiter due to no shows and no responses , so the sourcer took over
Was it Google?
I'm currently in a similar situation as you. Had a really positive experience on the phone call with the recruiter and was told to send them my availability to speak with someone currently in that role. Been a week with 1 follow up now and no response :/ don't even have the first interview scheduled. was super excited about this too
Sorry to hear that man. I know it sucks
thanks, you too. Maybe 3rd times the charm
Depends. What’s your TC and YoE?
TC: ~$300k, YoE: 6.5yrs. How is that relevant though?
These are manager or lead level roles. They usually want way more experience
