Posting on behalf of my sister. She got 2 MBA offers, one from Google as a Technical Solutions Consultant Intern, the other from Amazon as a Product Manager - Technical intern. She aims to move to PM post MBA. In terms of software development, she has never worked as an engineer, and has only taken CS50 from edX. Since she aims to move into PM, what would be the best role for her to take? She leans more towards Google because of the brand name. She does plan to work at Google as a TSC and eventually move to PM @ Google. But she is not sure if she should take Google or Amazon. Job description for each: https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/141031316805034694-technical-solutions-consultant-gtech-users-and-products/ https://www.amazon.jobs/en/jobs/1778392/amazon-mba-master-s-level-full-time-pmt-opportunities-2022-multiple-locations Intern for both roles. Her TC: Roughly the same for both, about 7.5k each per month for 3 months. My TC: Going to join meta, 225k TC
gTech is Google's internal IT org... so not that. Google has some MBA PM program though.
I think Amazon will serve the career better in this case. PM has a much better career ladder for an MBA. If it was for a PM in G, I would have taken that.
Yep.
Amazon. Amazon is where the money is now. You’ll learn more (and DO more) at Amazon and be able to earn more two years from now.
This is useless Info. Both the role and level are very different.
Just shows how Amazon pays now. L5’s get top dollar, so getting top dollar at Amazon is the norm now. L6 PMT with MBA is relevant information.
Amazon 100%. I'm a former PM who just finished interviews for TSC role. They claim it's a hybrid PM role but it seems low status and low opportunity. If she has the Amazon offer, TAKE IT
Can I DM you OGO? Why do you think it’s low status?
Hi, can you please share the TC for Google offered?

I'm only familiar with Amazon PM-T new MBA grad hire program within AWS. The learning opportunity and scope of work are really good imo. Google branding needs to be coupled with sufficient experience, and Amazon can fulfill the experience part the best
Can I dm you regarding the PMT role at Amazon? Would love to find out more about it!
