I’m waiting for my on-site for a UX Engineer (development, not design) position and I’m curious about some insider knowledge of the difference between a UXE vs a SWE. Are the levels the same? Is the compensation on par? Will it be possible to transition to SWE after some time? More generally, should I discuss what level I think I should be at before interviewing or after (or at all?). Any interview tips as they apply to UXE would be helpful. I’ve got about 7 YoE and I believe my performance is strong, but this is my first time at a large tech co. and in the Bay Area so a lot of knowledge about levels, equity, and what’s possible eludes me. It doesn’t help that all the info. out there is for SWE and I’m not sure what applies!
OP, where do you stand now? Did you get more information and did you figure out whether UXE or SWE suits you better?
Got rejected at HC. Interview flubbed ;( UXE would be fine for me, pretty sure.
Sorry to hear that. I’m still waiting for any news from the recruiter :(
Hey I’m debating the same. Did you go through SWE or uxe interview
How was the interview like?
