I went thru some phone screens for a role on the google vr team. was told the position filled with someone farther along the process pipeline (tho who knows) I wasn't super eager to leave my current role but still wonder if I should have mustered up more energy for it. is the team awesome? normal? political? horrid?
I was contacted with the same role. Was curious about if my background would fit. I'm doing mostly front end graphics programming (canvas, webgl, webvr). @nphard if you can share some insight. Thanks.
i am a senior engineer in that group, and it's paradise if you're into graphics programming and into quickly taking on responsibility. lots of people with very different backgrounds (artistic/technical), and Clay who leads the department is a great people person with attention to detail. not all groups are equally well managed and stable, but overall by far the best place I've worked at, also compared to other roles inside Google.
awwww now I feel sad (only wistful) but glad it's a good gig! thx for insight!
Where is that team located ?
