Google and Facebook L5s in Seattle, what is your TC?
Looking for greener pastures and work that would keep me energized. SDE 3. 14 yoe, 6 of them at Amazon. In 2018 solved just a few LCs and failed F, U, G. Got offers from Msft and Oracle. Decided to stick with Amzn for a while. TC ~320k. 160k base, the rest are RSUs. Hitting the next compensation cliff in 2021.
My friend also L6 at Amazon got 400k in non fang tier no idea company in Seattle as senior sde (comparable to L6). He didn’t know what to do and accepted it, since it was 30-40% more than his TC.
I got an offer for 420k from OCI. But decided to pass that time. They have annual vests, which I find too risky and inconvenient.

If I join SDE 3 in Amazon now, how much can I expect?
About 280k - 350k. Can go a higher but not easy. Amazon comp is less then FB comp, and there are no refreshers at amzn.
There are refreshers, if your comp is less than target comp. In other words, it is not memoryless like in FB or G.
For 5, expect 300-450k TC, 400+ is usually for people with strong competing offers or downleveled 6 though
The standard starting offer for E5 is 170k + 400k RSU. With bonus is close to 300. They can go higher. I'm know of a 180+600 offer, and some people have mentioned higher ones as well (190+800), but i cant confirm those.
What is the upper limit for base in FB?
I'm not sure what limit is. I have heard of 200k base for E5 offer, though in not sure if that's true. It's much easier to push for a higher RSU grant than a higher base during negotiations, so focus on RSU during negotiations.

Sounds like it could be a decent bump from my current TC, definitely worth trying and investing time in preparation. I heard bananas at FB are better than at Amazon, turns out it is true.
I started at about 380, this is after some stock appreciation and several good reviews.
