Google cleared org

Since contracts are shared now, and without explicitly stating which contract(s).... @Google, how are things on your cleared side? Is Google actually standing up TS sites? I routinely will hear people moving between AWS and Oracle, less so from Microsoft and nothing from Google. Does Google have a clearance bonus for those with a TS/SCI w/ FSP? E: I would search this myself, but I'd rather hear it from someone who works from Google. Things change so quickly on the cleared side, I just want current info. Thank you.

Op is making a reference to this: https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/07/business/pentagon-cloud-contracts-jwcc.html OP is saying that Microsoft, AWS, and OCI hire people with clearances to work on contracts with classified government information, and have buildings that house classified data. These companies usually pay you more to keep a clearance, so they want to know if Google follows similar business practices.

I can't think of anything Google does that would require TS-SCI. Why would we reject stoners / people with international ties?

Amazon TheMonarch OP Dec 24, 2022

You have cleared job listings, and if you read contract awards you'll see Google is on some of them since contracts are multi-provider now. You wouldn't reject someone who does drugs or has international ties, because those people wouldn't hold a clearance to begin with 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes. If you have a clearance you should apply. https://careers.google.com/jobs/results/?distance=50&has_remote=false&hl=en_US&jlo=en_US&q=Clearance

Hi there, do you know what the bonus looks like for holding a clearance? I keep seeing "base +bonus + stock+ etc" but I idk if that's just a sign-on bonus, or a clearance bonus. I can find info on other cloud providers, except Google. Much appreciated.

Google DjRL28 Dec 25, 2022

Comp bonus plan will depend on role, but comp should be competitive or better than other cloud providers - whether you are using a clearance or not.

Amazon QDCr57 Dec 24, 2022

I only know of one person that went AWS->Google with a clearance. Pay was competitive for sure, they opted against a dive n save, as the Google offer was similar to an external offer one level higher at AWS. I’ve seen similar offers for folks going to OCI. Not sure about MSFT.

Amazon TheMonarch OP Dec 24, 2022

Wow really. Do you know if they offer a clearance bonus and what it looks like compared to AWS? L5-L6 in approved roles get a $60k bonus now and <L4 is $50k. Really wondering what the comp looks like at Google.

Amazon QDCr57 Dec 24, 2022

I don’t know how they structure the pay at Google. But OCI is 40k, and I believe they work it into your normal paycheck.

Oracle ChaatMEri Dec 25, 2022

OP, why are you stuck on one small part of the comp.

Amazon TheMonarch OP Dec 25, 2022

Not necessarily stuck on it, I'm just trying to figure out what the bonus is since I can't find any info on it. Generally I haven't really found a wide disparity with base pay. But I could be wrong. Please enlighten me if you do have info, I'd appreciate it.

I’m sure they would offer the same bonus since they’ve been open about possible shift work until they get their gcp up and running for gov

Amazon jose-bezos Jan 19, 2023

I've heard of a L5 SysDE getting really good comp offer from Google. Just over 300k or at least a bit more than what he is making at AWS. The issue is the unknowns at Google, at least for him.
