Does google match pre IPO stocks? A unicorn startup but not big enough. Recruiter said they match only public companies

Nope. Worth a try though, if one of the biggest, they discount equity by 30%
They do match (and beat) unicorns
I think it depends. Something like Airbnb, Uber, Pinterest might carry more weight than a much smaller one. I’ve seen people here using Uber offers to negotiate.
