Tired of petty politics and turf wars at facebook. Recruiters from Google have been in touch. The job description is not exactly my aspiration, but I am willing to make the move for a better WLB and peace of mind. What is the culture like over there for L5+? Specifically, how do senior people interact with each other? And what values/principles govern the technical decision making process?
Won’t be different at Google. Key point is to find the right team whether at FB or Google. Best of luck.
People are in general very nice at Google and not competitive. I only spent two years here but I feel like there isn't enough interesting work and that's why I am looking to leave: things are slow, too much focus on design docs. It is just depressingly boring.
While I am not a fan of the culture it is open, fosters collaboration via design docs and the various committees are principle based. So open and principled. Is that what you would like? It’s not a fast moving risk taking impact driven culture.
What are committees?
The culture may be summed up by one thing: design docs.
This.
Could you elaborate?
Can you elaborate on the politics at FB please?
Asking the right questions
Sounds not too different from G tbh
