Google: does installing work gmail app on iphone pose any risk?

Will my private browsing be visible to employer (Google)? I am considering installing only the gmail app that comes with chat and google meet on my iPhone to be more responsive. TC 280k Yoe 6 #google

Yes they can see. but you can install calendar with no repercussions. Corp is behind Uber proxy and requires elevated access. TLDR; use your pixel or work assigned iphone. Don’t mix business and pleasure because you are lazy.

Is the corporate gmail app different than the consumer one? Because it sounds like you are implying that installing and using that app will create a VPN and then Goog could sniff traffic coming from other apps on the phone. Or does the VPN connection need to be created at the system level or through a separate app? If the latter is true, then yes they can sniff your browser traffic if the VPN is not setup to split tunnel.

Until you get a baseless allegation of harassment or someone doesn’t like you and causes trouble. Let’s check his history! Now you’re a Xoogler.

No one seems to be answering the question head-on. I personally do not think so. But I don't know so either. I know that's Apple devices have a list of permissions that your work profile can influence. And randomly seen your phone or screenshotting isn't really one of them. They may be able to look at the list of apps you have on your phone to prevent some malicious apps, but I don't think anyone of us is downloading the phub app. So no, your private browsing is most likely not visible, especially if you have an iPhone. Pretty much the same thing on Androids too, but they are two levels of device trust. Basic and fully trusted. Basic works like apples but just for Google. Although I think a lot of the permissions might go away if you're dog fooding stuff. But then fully trusted as it implies might risk being visible to your employer.

Thanks. I think given the lack of clarity I will keep a second phone.
