https://www.businessinsider.com/google-ai-write-fix-code-developer-assistance-pitchfork-generative-2022-11 I don't think replacing all engineers will be possible, but replacing people doing some "script kiddies" stuff involving simple patches, even simple tools and tests may be achievable.
How does one get in to Google X. Applications did not work in past for me. Would non X Google friend should be able to refer or should I find a Google X person
Probably easier to do an internal transfer (just guessing, idk anyone in X)
Not much of a secret if it’s on business insider.
Can the AI detect that they are in an infinite loop?
We already have it in code reviews, the robot tells you how to write it better. You accept the suggestion and it is applied automatically.
Sounds like a PR spin on auto tab to complete with predictive code. It doesn't work well in PyCharm. Attaching a NN to it won't be much better.
Don’t worry. It will be shutdown like many Google products
Only use I've found for it so far is writing tests is so much quicker. Set up a few constants, then as you're writing tests it suggests pretty accurate inputs - but still needs some help. Still, I blasted through a unit test in like 30% of the time I expected - and probably added a few more test cases that I otherwise wouldn't have. Writing actual code is less useful, since usually it's a sort of novel feature.
This is basically Github copilot. It would help anyone who write code write code faster which is great, but in the same way compilers didn't reduce the need for software engineers, this won't either.
Abort. I repeat. Abort mission.
QAE and SDET shouldn’t need to exist. This will actually make SDEs lives much better.
This might be bitter sweet but one should not exist I'm sure is TPMs and Manual testing
Oh my sweet summer child:-)
