Google has the most upside

The most attractive FAANG at the moment is Google. Now before you start saying things like Sundar is the worst CEO, GRAD sucks, layoffs, Bard errors, Gemini Woke, etc, remember that these are headline grabbers to generate clicks. Objective projected growth of capital and valuation is the only thing that matters in investing. Google does not have a real problem. Our profit margins are almost 30%. Cloud is profitable and revenue is growing. Ads have rebounded significantly since last year as the economy is picking up. Yes our leadership and marketting is questionable, but this has created an opportunity. ChatGPT has MUCH better marketing. But ChatGPT is mostly based on years of research Google DeepMind has performed (DeepMind was sited so often in their papers people from DeepMind team tweeted OpenAI to send them flowers/chocolate to their address as a thank you). Gemini Ultra performs equivalent or better than ChatGPT. For AI video generation, Google has the largest database to build videos off of - YouTube. For AI search, Google has the largest database. Google has a monopoly on search. If we know anything, its very hard to get users to switch platforms to something like Bing when they already are used to Google. Even after all the marketting and hype, Microsoft wasn't even able to make a dent in getting people to switch to Bing. Majority of users still use Google search, and non-tech people don't even give a shit about ChatGPT or Gemini (realistically it's only people interested in Tech, and I know all of you live in the Silicon Valley bubble). Heres the thing, negative marketting but no actual loss in the businesses production is usually a GREAT opportunity to buy a business at low valuations. ChatGPT hype has caused Microsofts P/E ratio to SOAR to almost 40 (that means a projected yield of 2-3%). Google's forward P/E is 21! S&P is around 27 at the moment. Thats way below historical norms for GOOG (around 25). For an established tech giant, this is an anomaly. Remember when Meta fell to 100/share, sentiment was against it, but if you had bought then, you would have made off like a bandit. To make money in investing, you need to move against the crowd, to find opportunities. Yes there is negativity, but that's the risk you take as an investor to make a profit. TLDR: With current valuations of NVIDA (66 P/E), META (32 P/E), Microsoft (40 P/E)- the only undervalued company with MASSIVE upside is Google (21 foward PE). Use negative press to your advantage, go against the crowd, not with it. NO BRAINER. #Google #FAANG #Stocks #Investments

Shut up SundarGPT

Google S&P500@10k OP Feb 26

Great objective analysis, I'd sell Microsoft stock and buy Google before its too late. No one will use Bing.

Totally agree. In my opinion Google is being made to languish to create evidence that there are competitive forces at work in the free market and antitrust isn't needed.

Google isnā€™t attractive anymore, hope this doesnā€™t hurt your feeling Noogler

The best are leaving in droves because they can. The ones staying are either good but lazy or just straight up bad.

Google S&P500@10k OP Feb 26

Feelings have no place in making investing decisions. Give me your objective analysis, simply stating it's not attractive is an emotional statement.

Google is a great company to work and invest. But at present, it's missing any catalyst for investment. That's where people think changing CEO may give that catalyst. It's not that easy.

Amazon bidernow Feb 26

What is the catalyst for Microsoft or Amazon? How does that differ for Google?

ex-Optum Ā©Ā® Feb 26

Both have established Cloud offering. MSFT owns AI, offers AI cloud and Amazon is offering AI cloud. Google doesn't have either and they don't stick with any *new* product and doesn't grow it.

Sad thing is Microsoft surpased Google in positive image 5 years ago.

Google is losing its moat and being attacked from all angles by Microsoft and TikTok

Amazon lcRh87 Feb 26

Kids donā€™t even use Google to search anymore. They use TikTok

Reddit is better than the tiktok plague

Google S&P500@10k OP Feb 26

Google should buy Reddit to remove their competitor, I agree Reddit search is golden

I remember similar arguments for Microsoft, when Balmer was the CEO. Even though, the revenue and the profits kept increasing stock didnā€™t move until Balmer left. Market cares deeply about the leadership potential.

Google S&P500@10k OP Feb 26

I'm worried about longterm stock growth. If short term Microsoft did nothing while Blamer was there, that's more opportunity to load up on shares at discounted prices. When Balmer left, the stock skyrocketed. If the same happens for GOOG, then great, I'm getting more refreshers and shares at lower prices.

Google ŠµnginŠµŠµr Feb 26

Microsoft missed growth for 10 years. I am not sure what is long term for you

And you think that is the reason to buy Google? Friendly reminder, most hedge funds underperform compared to benchmarks. Bridgewater is not Renaissance. https://hedgefollow.com/funds/Bridgewater+Associates/Performance-History

Google S&P500@10k OP Feb 27

I don't like Hedge funds, but in this case its a good buy. You should've mentioned Bill Ackman instead. He invested a ton in GOOG in 2023.

Agree with OP, Google still has very strong engineers and I feel that situation now is similar to Intel vs AMD competition in late 2000s, i.e. ChatGPT finally allowed Google to focus on one thing and the chances are that it will deliver this time. But at the same time in the long run it's not obvious to me if Google will be able to continue performing well as the company becomes incredibly fat and slow. And again looking at how Intel vs AMD competition played out in recent years Intel doesn't seem to be a winner as of today.

Google S&P500@10k OP Feb 26

Microsoft is fat and slow as well, but its done well. Some companies have large moats and a massive competitive advantage, they don't need to be fast at that size

Meta yudo Feb 27

Microsoft also had downward trend before Satya became CEO and significantly changed the culture and the company. I don't see anything like that at Google yet, Sundar is very conflict averse and the culture continuous to degrade slowly.
