I was just curious to know what do you guys think on this? Lately, in last 2-3 months my LinkedIn is flooded with "starting a new position with Google". I understand the demand and supply, but of the people I know most of them were not able to get even a single offer before Google. Few were my project mates and they were just coasters with low GPA and without any internships. I am not surprised why Google is lowballing because of the above reasons. I seriously feel the quality of engineering talent hiring better in few other companies compared to Google atleast for 2021 Edit: Sorry guys, if I have offended any one of you, it's not about praising Amazon over Google. Why do you always link a person to their company, it was some general observation I had. Did I anywhere say Amazon>>>Google in hiring bar? #google #hiring
🍌
Salty ? Peppery ?
Someone got rejected by google over 3 months ago
Google hiring bar is lower than Amazon's right now. That's what you wanted to hear, right? Does that make you happy?
I didn't notice OP's company until I read your comments. The sarcasm is real LOL
I didn't post for any sarcasm, but you are free to do what you want. I just wanted some opinion from Googlers as Google was once my dream company but lately doesn't feel so. Also, I didn't apply to Google openings this year as I was not aware of them so it's not about being salty about rejection.
I only know amazon bar is the lowest in FAANG
It is, it is not about Google vs Amazon
Google is giving a tough fight these days.
Amazing that you’re basing all this on a ‘few LinkedIn posts on your timeline whose profiles you deemed unworthy’.
Not only on LinkedIn posts, I know a few personally they had no real interest in CS or any projects, they just coasted and did smart work overburdening for other team members. Sample size ~5
They are doing something right if they're kept around 🙂
I think GCP has dropped the hiring bar at Google
I agree
HC and team match is cross orgs though. There used to be a fast track where if you went to GCP you could skip HC if all your interviews were positive, but that was only in select cases and levels, and pretty sure in the India offices.
Amazon HR spotted.
^google HR spotted.
Let the battle begin! 😈😈😈 Big brother vs big basil!
Just Amazon things
Low GPA? Huh, I know a guy who did not even do schooling and got a job at Google! I think it depends on you ability AND Universities, GPAs BS doesn’t matter anymore!
I don't want to switch, the reason of posting this is I wanted opinion from people at Google who are from few years, how are they seeing it these days. I feel culture is strongly tied to hiring bar. Leetcode doesn't mean abilities. It is a standardized test just like SAT and GRE with little correlation to career success
