Comp team will low ball you,, having a competing offer close to your desired salary is the only way to negotiate meaningfully. I've seen offers ranging from 200K to 280K in the bay area for L4. Still a long way to go after HC, good luck!
I just got an offer for l4 interaction designer and my total comp was 220k. asking them to raise it to 270k (this is actually how much l4 designers get paid at google). I don't have a competing offer so we will see.
