Forced quota of ~10% sci, and wave of managers from Amazon, Oracle, startups have damaged culture. It is a hunger games to not getting sci. Even teams with strong performers have to scapegoat folks with excuses to meet quota. #tech
Forced quota?? It’s already happening at Google?
Just saw one post say 8% and another say 16%. So it must be 20% now
Blame the Google hiring bar. They lowered it like crazy and hired folks in droves. The number of employees nearly doubled from 2017. And unlike Amazon, Google doesn't have a big blue collar work force.
Yep seeing my excoworker who is a huge slacker got hired there made me confirm that their bar is so low
People I dislike get hired = low bar
Google is on track to joining 'Tech Dinosaur' status (Cisco/Oracle/IBM).
I feel like you might be a bit biased
I thought Oracle Cloud pays well though
Well, what did you expect from the hiring spree last and this years? Google hired 35k+ folks in two years. Lol what a dumb move.
real talk, people don’t look at metrics
What a crock of sh*t, GCP is still doing better than Oracle. Folks at OCI are worried. The best have quit, and some gone there to build the future as one of 3 top hyperscalers. IBM is a dinosaur and even they’re building a big GCP practice.
Amazon managers are messing stuff up everywhere
Why bash other companies? You were also nothing at one point
sci?
