Google layoff email shows real empathy

While it's clear every Tech company is racing to layoff, Google's layoff email is lightyears ahead of Microsoft. The lack of empathy and poor optics (it's showtime????, sting concert, purposefully ambiguous language in the email etc.) is making me think Satya is a souless retard. To be honest, I was proud of Satya and his work and used to think how badly Sundar is screwing up the cloud wars. But holy fck, if I could ever get hired by Google, I'd leave in a heartbeat. I feel bad for M1 and M2 managers because they seem equally clueless on what's going on and sometimes come across as they are equally happy that they still have a job and if they'll continue to have a job.

I don’t understand this post.

Microsoft showtime? OP Jan 20, 2023

That's fine if you don't have context on what is being discussed. Juniper isn't affected. So maybe this post doesn't apply to you.

Juniper calculos1 Jan 20, 2023

Oh I know what is being discussed. I just think the post is silly. I didn’t want to say that. But I guess I have to now. How good or bad a “layoff email” is doesn’t indicate a thing about actual empathy or how good an employer is.

Bro Did you see what Amazon did?

Microsoft showtime? OP Jan 20, 2023

I'm not even talking about Amazon. Never want to work there even for a pay raise. We have few AWS employees here that we have to deal with. Makes me feel bad for the culture at Amazon.

Yes.

Mandiant nGfx22 Jan 20, 2023

Of course. I think OP is Indian and they always like talking about the Indian CEOs like they are their buddies since kindergarden, Sundar , Satya, addressing them by first name like, I know that successful guy and every fart he takes. So they come up with all random subjects about those successful Indian antreprenours. Like which of them is smarter, which of them did a better job doing something, which of them did something wrong, Do they deserve the Indian cross for bla bla. And so on and so forth.....truth is....no one GAF.

Google QUaM20 Jan 20, 2023

Are you high? I seen somebody post a pic of a computer screen that showed the email came directly from Sundar, which means he wrote it. I don't understand what you gain from sewing division.

Atlassian proskills Jan 20, 2023

What empathy? All they care about is their $$$. All of them

Datadog babadrame Jan 20, 2023

> how badly Sundar is screwing up the cloud wars. Sundar doesn’t manage the cloud business or strategy directly

Apple nobruhno Jan 20, 2023

Microsoft TheMVP Jan 20, 2023

The laid off ppl don’t give a f**k about how those letters had been written. The outcome is the same.

Microsoft TheMVP Jan 20, 2023

What have you been drinking? Your mortgage lender doesn’t care what wording had been used to lay you off. The only thing that matters is that a person is let go and they are unemployed from now on, period. You mention XXI century, but people are effectively thrown away the same way as they have always been in history. Especially at Google who didn’t even care to personally communicate that through managers! At least here Microsoft does much better, but again, I don’t care if outcome is the same.

I don’t want to defend our corporate overlords, but how else can you perform layoffs for 12k people on the same day?

Uber stonksfat Jan 20, 2023

The reason is they were not competent enough to not hire a crazy amount of people in the last two years. You’re looking for a reason that doesn’t exist.

Microsoft Byub83 Jan 20, 2023

Completely agree. This was what I felt as well.
