Google’s most recent round of job cuts impacts a ‘few hundred roles globally.’ After laying off about 1,000 employees last week, Google is now cutting jobs on its advertising sales team. In a statement to The Verge, Google spokesperson Chris Pappas confirmed that “a few hundred roles globally are being eliminated” as part of the change. https://www.theverge.com/2024/1/16/24040093/google-layoffs-ad-sales-team
Layoff.fyi is also manually reported by random people, you can report as well. It won't cover an event If nobody manually reports it to Layoff. fyi. And It always takes long time for the site founders to publish It, they only do it part-time.
Laying off sales is a pretty bad sign. Especially if the BU is their literal monopoly. Probably means a lot of downstream effects that won’t be visible. Things like SMB cutting ad spending massively, which signals they either don’t need online ads or have moved to other channels like TikTok which has seen tremendous growth in their sales and ad divisions.
Google 😡
Hundreds is an interesting term. There can be 4 hundreds or 30 hundreds.
Please stop fear mongering. Check layoffs.fyi for actual numbers impacted.
It's true, new layoffs have been done 🙄
What makes you think layoffs.fyi has the most updated info? They literally update that website with numbers based on news articles. I think the 1000 on that website is literally quoted from last weeks verge article.
