Interviewed for L5. Down-leveled to L4. 10YoE. MCOL location. Offer: 205K TC average for 4 years. Don’t know whether to laugh or cry 😢. Have competing offer from AWS: 255K L5. Asked for a match and Google said no. Tried negotiating and looks like they won’t budge. Which company should I go with? Current TC: 145K Google L4: 205K . Role: Network Engineer Amazon L5: 255K. Role: NDE II UPDATE: Accepted the AWS offer. Would try L5 Google in couple years. Thanks everyone!

You'll probably have to pay Google to work there at that point. Though I think there are plenty of folks on Blind who seem willing to do that so Google won't have any issues.

That G offer hurts to read, in a year with 9-10% inflation, G is lowballing ... even harder. I don't know what mcol should pay, but assuming it's -20% bay area this is low, very low
