And they realise when they are terminated.

This is due to lack of clear communication/ metrics/ clarity on when someone gets put on a PIP.

The majority of people voting don’t work at google

I guess posting this question in Google internal and sharing results here would have helped

Google KKgd47 Jan 1

That would’ve required op to be competent which clearly he’s not

How many are getting pipped at google ? Has it become amazon already?

Google IAKo76 OP Jan 1

From what I heard it’s 10% from every org. Even if the org is doing well.

Google IAKo76 OP Jan 1

Google is slowly but surely becoming Amazon

Can managers themselves be put on PIP?

Yes - almost anyone can.

Pipped folks are low performers. They brought it on themselves

Google IAKo76 OP Jan 1

Or people with lazy managers. I’ve seen a lot of people affected did not have proactive managers that did not communicate a PIP was coming due to a low perf rating. On the other hand people with good mangers that warned their repots about a PIP helped develop people to not get a low rating are staying at the company. It is high time we hold managers to higher standards as well.

Not necessarily, pip s are used politically as well. Where incompetent managers/skip levels are putting talented people on pip so that they can look good

Google has PIP now? Tech is really going downhill fast

You expecting lifetime employment? Welcome to 2024.

Axon Shandygo Jan 1

If you are PIPping people only after 6 months, then its your fault as your hiring system is shit. Or you are just hiring for firing, which is more shit than the former!

Nope. They are being too lax. If you think you can coast and make a premium TC, it's time to join the 30,000 to be let go.
