L4 but otherwise no

You're expected to reach L4 within the first 3 years, but not a super hard deadline like at FB. I've met people at L3 with 4yoe, as long as you show you're on an ascending trajectory, it's fine. L4 is officially considered a terminal level, there's no pressure to move up to L5. As for PIP, I've been at Google for 5 years and honestly have never met anyone who's been PIPed. I know they happen, but it's really for legit cases of people performing very badly for more than 2 perf cycles with no signal of improving, definitely not the "PIP quota" case.
