Can folks worked or working at google share their promotion experience? Like how many years it takes from one level to other.. and if possible what kind of raises/refreshes at each level..
This could help wannabe googlers .. thanks in advance
Lower levels are fairly quick, say 2 years from level 3 to 4 or faster if you are effective. Level 4 to 5 is around 3 years average. For me and some colleagues it's a lot longer since we were on teams with projects that got cancelled. IMO being on the right project is more important than talent. My opinion of the promo process went south when I got some very high ratings in a row and great feedback but the promo committee still denied me. For the rest of your question: I think you need to get to level 6 to have what I consider a high salary in the Bay Area. I know people who started 4 years ago and are level 6 already after 2 promos so it can happen but typically takes longer.
