So I passed all Google interviews, team matching, HC, and now the Google recruiter sent me an email asking for my salary expectation. He expects a specific number. Is this normal? How should I respond? What would be the wording you would use? Looking for specific example responses #google #tech
Or use the technique called anchoring by quoting a very high number. Probably top 90-100% for your level.
Look at the range based on recent offers on levels.fyi to get your expectations right and say something vague like “I know the range for my position and would expect to be towards the upper end”
Bad advice. Levels.fyi is always lower than what I actually get. I never trust its numbers, as if some corporations are managing those numbers. Search blind and get a sense of the offer range. No one lost an offer by asking too much. Always ask for the max
Just answer how much you want, duh
Are you that recruiter?😂
Does the answer also depend on your current salary?
Never. Is the work at new place dependent on how much you did at the old employer ?
Don’t give any number respond to get salary range for your position and then you can check for upper range….
Tree fidy
In your mind what is the number below witch you will not accept - atleast be clear on that (in your mind) don’t share anything , unless your current salary is too high
(🥜)x1.5
Ask for the range.
Just say market rate and don’t give a number
What would be an example reply? I mean the exact wording?
I asked ChatGPT: Dear [Recruiter's Name], Thank you for progressing our discussions. I'm confident that we can agree on a competitive compensation package. I trust that the offer will be in line with market standards for the position. I'm eager to move forward and would be happy to discuss this further once you're ready to present the specifics of the offer. Best regards, [Your Name]
