I passed Google phone interview for a full time software engineer role. Then the recruiter called and said to give him a few weeks for him to "find a team for my onsite". (i thought team matching was after interviews??). Also, it has been 6 months and he still did not schedule it. I have been emailing him every month or two, and for example this month he said he is still waiting for an opening for my experience level. I don't believe a company like Google has not had any opening for someone of my (or any) level for so many months. Why is he doing this? Any googlers have any insights? Has this happened to anyone else?

Mine did this. I thought it might be specific to design. I had 3 hiring manager calls and scheduled my onsite with the team I liked the most.
so I guess Google has a nonstandard process sometimes... how long before passing phone interview, until hiring manager calls?
bit confused because i was sure team matching is done AFTER passing onsite, no?
