Hi, I have my 1:1 interview (1st round after phone screening with the recruiter) schedules for next week, and I would love to get some tips on what to highlight or how to prepare. I am currently thinking to prepare 2 projects, 1 is a feature I launched at a current company (it has very solid research data, history of working with stakeholders, user problems and design solution) and the other project is end-to-end app design that I launched from the previous company (more concrete end to end design process, prototypes, user testing, development) I chose those two cuz i want to show the spectrum of my work experience as well as my skills. The skills not just include the design skills, but working with partners and stakeholders as well as engineerings. Do you think it sounds like a good plan? Or is there anything I should emphasize more to gain more trust? Thanks! Tc: 180k Yoe:6 #design #interviews #ui/ux #interactions #google #productdesigner #pd
Let your recruiter know your current TC and level early on (if you care about not getting offered a down level and less TC if successful).
Dealing with and navigating through ambiguity is another important skill that Google looks for in designers.
How do you approach and frame this? I hear it so frequently not just in regards to google but in general, but “dealing with ambiguity” is ambiguous in itself! Curious to hear your thoughts.
What worked for me was focusing on "big" problems with lack of direction and a lot of unanswered questions. In both case studies, I spent most of my time walking them through these questions (and why they were important), how I went about answering them and how that led me to the end solution. Many people recommend to show different explorations/solutions to a particular problem but I never did. Instead, I voiced over a few different approaches but always kept it high level, which allowed me to spend more time in the problem space (which is where I am the strongest). Hope that helps / makes sense
