It's a bit more complicated than that.. Googles valuation doesn't just reflect its current business performance, but rather - the expectations people have for the future. For the stock price to go up, it's not enough for Google to perform better than it does no, but it also needs to do better than investors expected. The issue with Ai and Google is that it's both an opportunity and a real risk to some of its core business. It's not as much about openai and other ai competitors winning as much as it is about whether Google will lose. If, for example, an increasing share of the search market that was previously monopolized by Google states getting addressed by chatgpt-like services, that can hurt Google (the competitors dont even need to monetize well, just to cannibalize high quality traffic for google)
