My recruiter at Google told me I did really well on the onsite interviews for L5, but said team matching is necessary to move to the hiring committee and also said team matching is really difficult right now. My profile was sent to several hiring managers, but so far no interest - there aren't many positions open either. I'm based in Seattle. Any tips on how to find a team? I really want to join G. Full stack, preferably in Seattle, but would consider Kirkland. TC: ~370k #swe #engineering
Why do you prefer G over meta? For me it's reverse (Meta over G)
I heard really good things about G, I have friends who made the same jump a while ago. Maybe it's a preference thing. Why do you prefer Meta?
Are you ex meta? E4?

Not much headcount unfortunately except for ML/AI related roles. By the way, Meta is probably better in the current atmosphere. Unless you really hate your team, in which case internal transfer might be a better option, maybe staying is good. Or get an offer from G and ask for a retention bonus.
Good luck. I'm in same boat as you - supposedly strong positive feedback for L5 but no teams availablein Seattle area
Nice! What type of team are you looking for?
Just general full stack I guess. Can't be picky right now haha
Did your recruiter offer other locations as well?
I said I'm only considering Seattle-area (including Kirkland, etc)
You are better than most because Seattle is a bit easier to TM. But it might take time, maybe even a year. It took me 9 months to get first TM for USA.

There isn't much headcount for amount of people who have already passed the interviews. Like these recruiters are just trying to justify their jobs by interviewing people, when there are many people available. Sorry no tips.
Thanks for the insights. Do you think Kirkland is more likely to have positions soon than Seattle?
It's same across the entire Washington. And no Kirkland doesn't have more positions ( both campuses are equivalent in terms of open positions, so you can increase your chance by opening up to any location in Washington)
