I intereviewed at a Google Data Center for a Data Center Tech position back in December of last year. Everything went extremly fast, from appication to phone screen ~1 hour, technical phone interview ~1 week after, on-site interview ~2 weeks after that, apprival from HC ~2 weeks after that. Everything was fast, constant communication and the last real information I received was “waiting for headcount” back at the end of January. Everything seemed extremly positive and my recruiter was really excited to get me on board. It’s now August and I still dont have an offer or a start date, or really any other news. My recruiter keeps in contact every few weeks stating “No updates yet, I will be in touch when I do” Is it normal to wait this long? Does anyone have any experience waiting this long?
Maybe it’s time for you to keep yourself busy with other interviews, you can expedite them by saying you have an offer from google and then when you do get an offer... contact google recruiter saying you have an offer from FAAN company and this can be beneficial because you can use googles offer to expedite other interviews and also as a competing offer during negotiations
I’m pretty content where I’m at now but I’m looking for a change of pace and gain new experiences, so it’s not like I NEED this, just really hard when all my coworkers know Ive hung my pack and am ready to get out. I’ve been applying and interviewing at other companies for a “better position” incase I get something that furthers my career faster than Google, 6 months seems fine, but pushing 9 or more seems weird.
Unfortunately that’s how it’s. I’m on a similar position for SWE. My HC result was positive in March. Still waiting for headcount + team matching :-(
What level and location?
Are you matching China office?
I have an on-site interview as a DC tech position soon, do you mind sharing what was asked?

Jeez Google recruiting is completely screwed up. No respect for the candidate. 8 months and no news? They just take people for granted I guess.
