PM Manager, early 40s, married and ENM (Ethical Non Monogamous) AMA
I have been an EM (M1) with 7 years of experience ( total 15 years). I went from SDE -> SDM. Google reached out for a tpm leadership role. Recruiter was not able to tell me why they thought I was a good fit for this role. I interviewed with google for an EM few years back, but didn’t make it. Are there folks who have taken EM to TPM manager route? What are the pros/cons? I am not sure but perspective from folks might help me think differently. My main concern is that the recruiter might be looking to meet some targets, and the folks who interview may flat out reject as they want folks with decent years of program management/leadership experience.
Probably the recruiter is specialized in tpm hiring and want to find everyone potential to convert to tpm.
I recently cleared into L6 TPM and in team match but there don't seem to be many (any?) open in the Seattle area right now.
This seems weird, I wouldn’t think that an EM has the experience they’re looking for in a TPM manager role. It’s not like Amazon where TPMs can manage SWEs.
Thanks. That’s what I thought.
