Would you leave Google for Stripe if TC were the same? Assume Stripe offered and Google matched.
You should never be switching companies for the same TC. If theyβre not giving you a big raise youβre doing it wrong.
Got Stripe offer, Google countered.
Share both offers please
My interview experience with stripe was crap. I did the design round and answered everything, noting that I could not provide a solution for. The interviewer was also jovial and it was fun. Then after 2 days they say they choose not to proceed. I asked them what went wrong and they wonβt reply. Itβs a sheer waste of someoneβs time if they are not serious in the process. May be others had a better experience but this was just mine
So you didn't solve, the interviewer managed your emotions and you happened to be ghosted. Am I missing something?
I hope I could say yes and make you feel better. It was not even a coding, just front end design question nothing fancy. I care much less given the experience
Everything isn't about TC. I'm trying to have a discussion about the companies putting aside TC. If you see no value in such a discussion, you're free to not participate.
When in Rome do so as the Romans do - itβs a common courtesy.
Not after stripes new stock policy. Your grant price will change every year
^ this is a huge consideration!
What do you mean by grant price? It's RSU, not options right?
No, I would not. You would have to learn Stripe's ways from scratch, whereas your Google experience would pay more dividends at Google. What do you think are some pros of moving to Stripe?
Growth. You get to grow with a company rather than a company that is resting on its laurels. Unlikely that google will 10x from here. Companies like Stripe still can.
Stripe @ 115B?
Yea that's the thing. I feel like I may have missed the boat already, and the RSU policy limits upside anyway.
If I were you, Iβd go somewhere smaller with more upside.
Been at stripe for 4 + years and i expect ipo at 300b minimum (w/o drinking the koolaid)
Youβre gonna be rich af.
Couple questions: - So you don't think they'll IPO for a couple years at minimum then? - They tripled in value during the pandemic. Is that growth sustainable post-pandemic?
No. Payments are fun and all, but tbh, the fintech wave is over. Unless Stripe has some crazy blockchain idea, and the pre ipo stock offer is good, stick to google if you care more about career flexibility
Stripe literally takes almost every transaction made on the internet tho
PayPal has a much bigger market share than stripe in online payments..
Have you read Stripeβs vesting policy?
Google and Stripe are 1 hour away from each other so you should consider how your commute would change
I live equidistant actually.
One direction will likely be worse than other when traffic is taken into account
