Curious how stock vesting schedule works in these two companies. Is there a one-year cliff? Is it quarterly or monthly after cliff? If so, what's the cutoff dates (aka you should try to join before the next vest commencement date so you don't have to wait for a whole quarter to start vesting). Are there lockup periods that employees can't sell stocks to prevent insider trading(aka trading window)? Thank you!
Meta has specific window every quarter where employees can trade stock
At G it depends on the size of grant. It may vest every 1, 3 or 6 months. The bigger the grant the smaller the vest granularity
Post split, virtually all engineering grants will be monthly. (I'm sure there are SOME roles where the grant is still too small, but realistically for most tech employees that's not an issue).
i’m sure they’ll update the number of shares for monthly vest
No cliff, monthly vesting over a certain amount of GSU in a grant, quarterly otherwise.
Most noogler grants are large enough to vest monthly. Refreshers may be monthly or quarterly depending on size.
It starts vesting on day 1? Or certain date of the month?
It will take a month or 2 to get your grant, but it will technically start vesting day 1. The actual share distribution date is the 25th of each month.

Why no one cares about the lives lost in Gaza, Israel and busy in their own lives?
No more cliff in Meta. Stocks vest quarterly.
Also Meta makes adjustments to initial/final quarter so it doesn’t really matter when your start date is in comparison to vesting date. You may wait longer, but you get more.
Thats great!!
