I just got PIPed at @Meta and it came a bit of surprise to me. I was offered 8 weeks base salary which seems small comparing to 16 weeks that the company offered a year ago during layoff. I’m thinking to negotiate the package. Any advices on how to do that the best? #pip #severance #meta
PIP <> layoffs
Just focus on: 1. Clearing PiP AND 2. Job Searc + LC You have absolutely no leverage
You can hire a lawyer and take them to court, you must have balls in case it backfire...
How can it backfire?
It might get extended and you will end up paying legal fee's, or worst counter suit
I would say just talk to your manager openly and get a hint about whether the projects/ tasks are doable within a pip month or not. I know this may sound absurd, but generally, this works. Also, start leetcode grinding after work. Work for designated hours during pip ( only if the above manager talk go well) and spend evening on leetcode. Pip has high chances of going out of meta. So don't keep hopes high.
What do you mean by “pip has high chances of going out of meta”?
Meta is going to do away with pipping people. No more pips in the future.
Hr is being mandated by leadership to ramp up PIPs. It's going to feel random for many.
Dang, sorry bout the pip bro. How long have you been there?
damn times ticking brother get leetcodin'
May I ask where you are located? The package is indeed smaller than what others shared before.
PIP != lay off. You have no negotiating leverage
If I fail probation period, they will fire me, right? How is it different from layoff?
Companies layoff due to “changing business needs”. Companies pip due to “individual employee failure”. The failing party is the difference. Which dictates who has the leverage to negotiate
