Got an offer from Google. Here are the mistakes that you shouldn't make
My experience mainly includes startups and mid-sized companies. And I'm from a Tier 3 school (which matters in India) I'm amazed that a recruiter reached out to me, I got through Google's interviews and they made an offer! However I would've gotten more TC. Here are some things that I (you) shouldn't have done:
1. Revealed my current TC in all it's glory (including pay slips, stocks etc)
2. Didn't approach multiple companies while interviewing - FAANG usually match offers, and it gives you more power to negotiate.
3. Did not negotiate too much above the initial offer
4. Worried more about Base Salary, when I could've asked for a Joining Bonus or more RSUs
5. Said yes too early
Most of the above are due to a feeling within me that I don't deserve Google, and should take what I'm getting.
Yep, I screwed myself. Anyways, I'm a Googler now, so I got that going for me which is nice. Just wanted to share my experience so that YOU can do better than ME :)
Off to read "Fearless Salary Negotiation" by Josh Doody for the next time (not gonna leave Google anytime soon)

On what base are you proclaiming he is a con artist :)
If I was the TechLead, I wouldn't be posting this to help the community, would I ;)
