I recently accepted a contract offer that pays better than the full-time position I was holding. I was told in the interview that I'll be working on the Report migration from Microstrategy to Tableau. I went through 2 rounds of interviews one for SQL and the other on my projects and behavioral and got selected. After joining the Client, it's completely different. Their DBs are a huge mess, data is spread into multiple DBs. The team doesn't have its own DB and relies on different team's databases. Now they say that the role is for Data Integrity and I need to work with the Data Management team and Business Teams to identify the issues when migrating between different databases (Basically a non-technical role). I did try to talk to the Client, this is not what I was told when I was interviewed, they really didn't care about it and just want me to work anyways. It's been 3 weeks and I started applying for new jobs. Would it harm my chances of getting a new job if I say that I got fooled by the recruiting agency into accepting a role I don't want to do? How should I put the words together so that I don't end up looking bad-mouthing the current company I'm working for. #dataanalyst #interview
Agree with the other poster. It's not a big deal if you switch quickly, you can say it wasn't a good fit, and the fact that you only stayed less than 3 months speaks to that fact even more. This sounds like a dead end, so leave now before things get worse. Be a mediocre employee and just put your effort into applying to a new job.
How is the offer?

I hate my f***** life
Don’t worry about it. Recruiters / potential employers don’t care in the slightest. What you DON’T do is get salty with them and start whining about how your old recruiter/employer done you wrong and your ex-wife ran away with your dog and your truck. Just say something bland and pointless like, “It wasn’t a good fit,” or ,”I’m looking to expand my skillset.” It’s equivalent to saying you got bored or something. Again, don’t stress about it, just apply and get your new job.
