I subleased a 2B2B apartmemt from a colleague, a recent grad in differrent org who I met on Craiglist. When I first checked the room everything seems fine except that one part of the windows is damaged and he hid it by partially take the curtain down. It took me some time before I figure that out. Now that I already moved out, the apt want to charge me $3.5k purely for the window replacement which is insane. I'm in the process of consulting a tenant lawyer on how to deal with the landlord, but my main question here is what should I do to this guy? He is still working and haven't responded any of my messages. Should I report him or what? If you were me, what would you do? Also, this is not the first time he did sth like this. He tried to scam my roommate before but failed....that's why he left at the first place.
Talk to HR...not sure if it will help but I’d think that they might step in if told that employees were scamming one another...in any case, it won’t hurt to at least try.
Dude, seriously?
Use buyer protection
You probably don’t have a leg to stand on if you didn’t catch it in the move-in inspection.
Legally there may be grounds for arguing that the broken window was willfully concealed during the move-in inspection. However, fighting this is unlikely to be worthwhile over $3.5k.
Report him for what? Are you five years old? Have you tried calling your mommy first? Serious?
Lol. Thanks. Any other suggestion?
You didnt notice a broken window at move in? Next time use your phone and make a video at walkthrough. Then you can at least use proof to negotiate with people
Condition report? Renters insurance? Feel sorry for OP. But it’s never cool to drag personal matters into workplace just because you are in 1 company or know where they work at. If they’re shitty in personal life, take care of it in personal life.
Name and shame.

Report him for what? This has no bearing on him in a professional capacity. I suggest you split the $3.5k with the guy and chalk it up to the hazards of subleasing.
