Base: 190k Location: LA I currently have a really nice studio with a covid rate, $2,243. It’s on the top floor, W/D in unit, marble counter tops, amazing view, roof top gym and pool but the con is that it’s 541 square feet and just feels SO tiny and is also in a really noisy and rough part of town. Cars are always zooming by, ambulances are always in and out and there's a lot of homeless around the area. I’m considering moving into a loft in a nicer area with no homeless and much less noise. The place is gorgeous, new, high ceilings, marble counter tops but the con is that it’s $2,688 and doesn't really have a view since it's on the 3rd floor but the 3rd floor is also the top floor. It basically has all the same amenities as my current place but the gym and pool are on the ground level. The difference is around $445 a month. Should I stay in my current unit and save or just move and be more comfortable with a bigger and nicer place. I’m pretty happy with where I am currently at but really want and would like more space and am getting sick of the noise. I can’t really host gatherings at my apartment either because it’s very small which I don’t really like. Ideally I’d love to save and buy but honestly don’t know when I’m going to have the money to do so, everything in LA is incredibly expensive, kind of losing hope. Might need to wait many years until the company I am at IPOs and even then who knows so I'm wondering if I should just move now and be more comfortable with more space. #personalfinance #rent I also understand this is a very first world "problem" and I understand there are bigger issues people are going through but would still love some tips or advice.
Go a head with the new house. Its really worth it I believe if there are no noise. BTW whats the square feet of the new house if its more than the current one then its definitely worth it.
The website says 700-766 so somewhere in there.
Do it - you’ll be fine
Are you living in downtown. Where is your office. There are much nicer apartments in other areas for cheaper prices in LA
I am fully remote. I don't want to look anywhere outside of Hollywood, West Hollywood or Beverly Hills

Go ahead and make the move. At your income, 440 a month can’t provide more utility than having a place that you love.
