A friend (sde 2) is considering an offer from Paylocity and is wondering if the move makes sense for his career.
If it sounds exciting, why not?
Pay-loss-city? š
If it's pay-hi then why not
What team? Their product is nice but the back end is old stack. Total comp isnāt great but 100% remote with no signs of going back
CTO was at Atlassian a few years ago and seems to be a great guy. I'm hoping to hear back today about a staff role. Everyone I interviewed with was great.
I like it. I learned a ton of greenfield shit thats super valuable. But projects are crazy and have unrealistic timelines. The projects I have coming up next year are all brownfield, and I am so depressed about it. .NET framework and old stored procedures. It sucks so bad because all the knowledge I gained from the new stuff is going to get rusty. But unfortunately that's how it works. I could go work for a startup if I want to do greenfield, but then there's no stability and everything is frenetic. So at my age, I must pick stability.
Does it have anything to do with Pelosi?
Yes pelosi T

My last company used paylocity and the software is a piece of shit
Never even heard of Paylocity. Some kind of remittance platform? Or more "web3" crypto crap? Your friend probably shouldn't switch unless the bigcorp beaurocracy of Microsoft is wearing them down.
