Why does leetcode get so much hate?
Just moved to the US recently on L1B and the employer is going to sponsor GC after my first year here. I’m seeing a lot of people on Reddit, Quora, etc. mentioning that you need to stay with the employer that filed you for GC for at least 6 months after receiving the card. But there doesn’t seem to be any official information on the USCIS website about this. Is this actually true? Would like to know if anyone had similar experience in the past. How soon did you leave your employer after receiving the GC? Have you stayed for more than 6 months? If you left earlier, did you have any issues applying for naturalization? TC: 95k #tech #gc #greencard #eb3
The reason people on internet spread this concern is because USCIS implies EB based green card applicant should have the 'intent' to work for the same employer.this won't be an issue until you apply for citizenship plus assuming whoever is gonna review your citizenship nitpicking on this, and you would still have plenty of reasons to explain, I.e. family reasons, you feel like were underpaid, etc
That’s true, I feel like the employer heavily abuses the limitations that come with L1B and underpays badly.
If I was an employer, you’re the kind of employee I would avoid bringing on L1B.
You can leave anytime after receiving the card. Watch this OP https://youtu.be/Rrg5cmeNEMU
Thanks for sharing this! I still plan to work for the employer for some time and perhaps transition to managerial position after receiving the card. Unfortunately L1B doesn’t allow that transition.
Great. This is very clear and clean!
I am about to leave my company < 6 months after GC. Ping me again in a couple of months or years to see if there will be any issues
That's bullshit, there is no such rule. If you can port your 485 to another company after 180 days after filing, why do you have to stay 180days AFTER you got your GC? think about it.
In the optimistic but highly unlikely case I receive the GC within the first 180 days of filling i485 would I still need to stay with the employer until I reach 180days mark? Sounds like BS, but still
Yes that's the point, I doubt you would get it within 180days after filing, so you are good. Say you get it within 180days after filing, just stay a couple more days to pass that mark.
