TL;DR: Self-funding, recently unemployed grad student graduating next semester, anxious about the SDE job hunt, looking for any advice on how to land interviews for entry level positions or potentially even upcoming summer internships. I've already read up on how to prep for them and I'm in the LC grinding process right now. I'm more-so wondering how I can get my resume/application noticed at some of these bigger tech companies as I don't really know anyone there (I am attempting to connect with alumni from my university who work at some of these places as well as updating my LinkedIn and attempting to connect through that based on some advice, even though I've mostly found LinkedIn to be useless in the past). Qualifications: MS in Computer Engineering with a lot of CS and ML/DA courses taken from a decent State Uni in VA BS in Electrical Engineering from a decent State Uni in IN One month Software Development Internship Handful of personal/school projects on various topics in various languages YOE : 6 months TC: 🥜🥜🥜 Semi-Long story: I graduated with a BS in EE, realized senior year that programming is what I'm really interested in and hardware is for the birds (sorry to any hardware ppl reading), but took a non-SWE job because it was offering a lot of money (at that time to me, a kid from lower middle class). 3 years in that industry I decided I wanted to pivot to SWE, took another job in the same industry that allowed me to attend grad school full time. Last year that employer asked me to re-locate and I was already attending grad school (physically for some courses / projects), so I just quit and have been going to grad-school full time on my savings from those two prior jobs mentioned. Anyway, I'm set to graduate next semester and I'm getting kind of anxious because I decided to finish grad school on my savings. I've been applying to jobs through various networks my university offers, and they have an upcoming career fair where hopefully some bigger tech companies are present, and I can speak with someone face-to-face. Aside from that, I don't have too many friends or contacts at the bigger tech companies, and I was wondering what advice you guys/girls have for how I can get my application noticed. #entrylevel #intern #jobhunt #jobs #sde #swe #airbnb #faang #facebook #meta #microsoft #amazon #netflix #bloomberg #coinbase #doordash #google #linkedin #uber #lyft #paypal #visa #salesforce #splunk #stripe #waymo #twitter #oracle #cisco #juniper #nutanix #cohesity #zoom
