Some questions for folks working at Group 1. How's is Groupon doing now with new management? How will things improve since CEO hasn't changed! 2. Being an insider, what is your opinion on the future of Groupon? 3. What level is a typical people manager at in Groupon and what's the range of TC at that level? Let's say in product management. 4. Is Director a big deal at Groupon?
Didn't know groupon still around
Read above comment lol. But I get the sentiment Groupon hasn’t made a big splash since 8 years ago.
I got an offer from them 4 yrs ago. Their pitch was that the stock is so low, it has nowhere to go but up. It went lower. POS company.
The tech is good, some teams have interesting challenges. Lots of opportunities to learn, grow and have an impact. The stock performance is poor, senior leadership is a mess and endless reorgs.
You’ve got a lot of pretentious comments from people who I’m sure are joys to hang out with outside work. I came to GRPN from a company almost identical to T-Mobile. Here’s the deal 1) GRPN Seattle is infinitely better than T-Mobile/AT&T/Verizon it is almost laughable. Those industries are slow and old, you’re likely not on meaningful projects or directly contributing to financials. The bar is so low at these cell phone companies. 2) GRPN Seattle also has a good culture in terms of diverse backgrounds. 3) People are going to shit on GRPN for its history. The deal is that you are going to be able to get experiences and manage projects that you likely wouldn’t at large companies. Your contributions to financials will be seen easily. Both of these things bring a lot of job satisfaction. 4) G, FB, and MSFT employees will sit on their pedestals but of course I’m constantly pursued and turning down their recruiters. So you working for the company won’t hurt any future chances 5) Do you want to work in a company of hundreds of thousands or work in a smaller environment where you can make meaningful relationships? 6) Director is OK IMO. You’ll probably be 250-350k TC. Maybe 4 if you negotiate well. 7) I don’t have a great opinion of the long standing C-level execs. CMO is sharp though and I’m optimistic there. Honestly if the company made some basic improvements it’s easy to see leaps in value. Local commerce is important. Feel free to PM and I’ll provide additional input
”Your contributions to the financials will be seen easily.”
@fXbM16 well considering I said financials and not stock price... Good one there FB! How’s your wlb, love of the bay and/or Seattle, and great social skills going? Btw I was hoping you could comment on the fact that your platforms are frequently pointed to as causing mental illness?
GRPN is now less than half of when we last had this conversation. OP, I hope you ignored advice from the shitty GRPN employees here and dodged the bullet.
I had a friend who worked there for a bit. Said the place was full of delusional people like this. Would come up with the dumbest reasons to stay or why they weren’t looking Luckily he got out.

Is Groupon even still a thing that people care about?
Well, it's still a 1.6B market cap company if that counts for something :)
Seriously? I’m so shorting this on Monday
