Got contacted and am interviewing for a "Manager 1" level role at HPE. Looking for any information on pay band levels/hierarchy for management path. Posted salary range on position aligns with what I want (on the higher side of course), but curious about other comp benefits (bonus, equity, vacation) for managers and what the pay bands/levels are for management track.
Play hardball and get the most you possibly can right off the bat because the company will not keep up with the market.
Hierarchy for people leaders: supervisor1, supervisor 2, manager 1, manager 2, director, Vp, SVP, evp, CEO They will likely offer less than 50% of the payband. Getting significant raises once you are internal is much harder than getting what you want when you come in. Promotions, raises, bonuses have recommended targets but at the managers discretion I’ve been around for several years and we always get a bonus, just might be 🥜
You weren’t around the years we had pay cuts? Under Mark Hurd and pandemic?

Bonus is targeted at 10% of salary at manager 1 level, but payout dependent on BU metric. Equity IME is very rare. Vacation days is based on # of years worked. I am not HR, so I could be wrong. Great people, but I would say most feel very underpaid, and a lot of overtime. Depends on BU. New hires in general are being offered a lot more than those of us still here. So may create rift/expectations of what you are bringing to the table.
Thanks for the reply and information CzyL21! How typical is it for bonus target to be hit in your experience? Does it ever exceed target? Also, I'm assuming the management levels go Manager, Sr Manager, Director, and the AVP/VP. Do you have any insight on the pay bands/range and where they overlap? I'm interested in possibly "taking less now" but in a higher band to make more later. How are annual raises, performance, and promotions addressed? Lastly, do you feel it's a political culture or one where top performers can excel based on merit? Sorry for the litany of questions! Thanks in advance!!
A few years we exceeded (like last year), many years didn’t meet. During COVID, US employees took a 15% pay cut. Annual raises are low, promotions can be years in making. Bottom line, a few people of course get noticed and promoted (especially if you are in Texas), overall compared to my friends in tech, I have made a pittance with my career here. It is a tough business climate, after all hardware has thin margins, and the world has changed. Great people, but ongoing layoffs, heavy workload (may not be true in all divisions), and for tech, very low pay.
