Does anyone else feel incredibly guilty when leaving a job? Currently a contractor but just started talking about going full time recently. Got another offer I'm planning to take but almost considering not taking it because I'd have to tell my current manager I'm leaving.... And I seriously hate doing that.
Natural but you get over it.
Do you think it's shitty of me to leave after my current manager started discussions to bring me on full time? It feels pretty ungrateful of me given I've only been here a year.
Nope, just let your manager know and don’t string them along. Tell them you appreciated your time and keep it cordial. Your manager isn’t going to take it personally, people come and go. You gotta do what’s best for you!
Agree with Tesla. Natural to feel a little guilty about leaving but you gotta rip the bandaid off. It’ll be a distant memory before you know it. But obviously keep it professional
Been there, for leaving my first job which was an amazing gig.
🙋♂️ me.
A little bit yeah.
Facing it currently. One thing is clear once you go nobody misses you and things go on as if you were never there
Stayed at my last company long enough that I just pushed forward anyways
See it this way, if the company wants to let you go , they are definitely not going to feel guilty. Don’t have to burn any bridges or anything . Just have to keep it cordial and move on with what you think is best for you. No room for guilt here imo.
Not at all. I miss people, but job is your source of lifestyle support. And if your current job can't suit that, then you change it with no regret. If you really feel that bad, imagine you have a wife and fifteen kids (there is a chance of course it's already the case, but still) and that you have to feed them all and your current job can only cover half of that. Then the choice is easy.
