Hey all, I had an interview with Spotify a few months back. I went through all the stages but unfortunately, I did not get the position. At the time, the recruiter said they were looking for other potential positions for me but that did not work out either in the end. In any case, I assumed that since they were looking for other matches my feedback was good enough for me to be considered. However, more recently I applied for another position with Spotify. I had an initial conversation with the recruiter and I mentioned that I had gone through the interview process recently. Then I heard back from them saying that we could not proceed with the application because they have a cool-off period of 12 months and I should re-apply then. From what I have seen around, Spotify cool-off is typically 6 months so this got me very worried that I have been blacklisted for some reason. I do not know why that would happen and maybe I am paranoid but it seemed weird that a few months back I was good enough to be considered for different positions but now I have to wait a year to re-apply. Does Spotify blacklist candidates? Has the cool-off duration recently changed? Does anyone from the company have some idea whether that might be the case? #spotify #spotifycareers
Nope i got 12 months too
Why do you care? There are hundreds of companies out there. You dodged a bullet, they would have down level you to save money, google style I would say, but without being google tho.
Hey OP, I had a similar experience and want to share my thoughts. First half was identical, passed the bar, “Recruiter A” said if another role came up I would just meet HM and have a good shot of being in. I applied for another role in a different dept (with Recruiter B) and had that same convo you describe. Here it differs a bit- didn’t hear anything about a cool-off but instead I got an auto rejection. Tried following up with Recruiter B but crickets. I reached back out to Recruiter A, who made no promises but said more roles were probably opening up “soon” which is typical industry-wide, budgets being set and lots of roles in the first couple months of the year. I think “A” is good and “B” just sucks 🤷♂️ So… it’s possible our situations are totally different and you insulted somebody’s mother. But it’s more likely you have a dummy recruiter and in a month you apply for a role and get it. I’m curious if you emailed your original recruiter? Good luck! I think we're only hiring for positions that are in need right now. Not trying to grow just filling gaps. I wouldn't read too much into it
I thought our cooldown period was always 12 months fwiw
Spotify downlevels pretty hard have a friend w 5 yoe he got offer for sde1
Bruh barely anyone is hiring so I'm sure Spotify is trying to be very selective and if you're on some weird blacklist what can you do about it? all you can do is wait until they say it's ok
