What are the companies in the AUSTIN TX area that pays well in the ML/AI area for Data Scientist or Applied Scientist #google #microsoft #apple #netflix #airbnb #stripe #quant #uber #lyft #amazon #meta #linkedin
I think a lot of big tech signed new leases in Austin, and then when layoffs and stuff happened they naturally looked to Austin office presence as a way to cut costs.
Amazon signed a new lease for an office in Domain to consolidate their presence to a single place. Not because they’re expanding. Currently Amazon has like 10 or so floors in buildings spread throughout the domain and wework. They’ve signed a deal to bring them all into one building. Meta has had the downtown lease signed for a while. It’s been almost 2 years since then.
Oracle global HQ in Austin. Beautiful campus and attached luxury apartments for employees Yw
Is oracle still a good company to work for?
None.. Bay Area
Pre-Pandemic companies were expanding their office presence to get the best talent possible. Since Pandemic companies are trying to reduce their office presence to key regions and that has affected Austin badly. This might change in another 5 years. Hybrid work environment has actually affected Austin negatively
Tech growth here has really slowed down. With RTO a lot of folks are leaving Austin. Of the companies paying big bucks: Amazon has some engineering presence here, mostly in Domain. Apple has a couple of teams, situated near tech ridge. Meta has handful of non tech folks working in downtown office. Google has a handful of teams in their 2nd Street office. Not sure about Microsoft. In my 3 years here I’ve only seen one person work as an SWE at Microsoft here and they were remote. I think Tesla has some presence here.
Thanks for the context. This is helpful. Just wondering what RTO has to do with people leaving Austin? These people who were living in Austin were remote moving to their office places?
Meta has a lot of tech presence in Austin, I heard pretty all of the DevOps teams are based there
