H1B Rejected (Ivy League PhD)
I'm done with this country. I have a physical-sciences PhD from a World Top 10 University, and heard from USCIS after 11 months of processing that my H1B was denied. Been living in this country for 8 years now, but can't wait to live like a free man again.

Yes, I was low on money, and had to accept a job at one of those consultancies. I did get a full-time offer from Microsoft, but didn't join because we were waiting for my H1b. Microsoft hiring manager is supportive, but is powerless against the lottery system.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Hopefully you can put your skills to use in a different country. This goes to show how flawed a system really is. A vendor looking at an Excel sheet all day and doing manual testing gets a h1b while a PhD gets denied. Sick of this shit. Good luck OP ! The US doesn't deserve you.

What is your major? And the reason of denial?
My PhD was multi-disciplinary, but primarily, it was experimental/computational chemistry. We would do quantum mechanical calculations, and test results experimentally. Lots of spectroscopy across various parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.
They'll email a paper copy of the reason for denial.
What a loss for the US :(
