I am not Indian. I am Asian American. Politicians are not stupid. CEO and leaders are not stupid. They pretend to ignore the core problem to force you think that the system is “just the way it is.” Indian people should not be fearful about their future. If they truly value the American dream, this visa issue needs to be addressed ASAP. I keep seeing fearful threads among H1B workers about layoffs and recessions, which is nut. It is an oppression so that they can: 1. Oppress you to “voluntarily” stay at 1 company for long time. 2. Create uncessary stress and uncertainty so that gives mangagement an edge. 3. Ignore the core issue and create other distractions. Take the SB386 bill, for example. They force Indian and RoW to think they can only have a binary option. When they can simply increase the cap for Indian workers on H1B. It sucks and it doesn’t have to be this way. /rant
It seems like your problem is with the green card limit, not h1b. Why should America offer open work permit to anyone?
Because average Americans need international workers to stay competitive and uphold the US #1 status. It creates a competitive working environment, which is good for the economy. H1B and GC backlog cause a lot of unnecessary stresses for Indian workers, esp those with family here.
And Americans don’t need jobs? H1B grads are majority fresh out of “master” programs, their positions could easily be filled by Americans, and the rest are sweatshop consulting, abused because companies don’t want to pay Americans more for maintenance work
Just unite and protest and riot like Latinos! Those came here illegally got DACA, those came legally must get Green Card or work permit
Yeah bro what about the fools who’re bringing in deadly viruses into this country? Really is like second degree murder!
Americans value keeping their current racial/ethnic composition over the economic boost. They creates the h1b / gc limitations to get part of the economic upside without sacrificing too much on the cultural side 🤷♂️
Former H1 B on GC, but I'm not from the countries you have to wait 10 years +. It is oppressive but we've put ourselves through it. If you're an SWE making $300k+ I have no sympathy for you, you make more than majority of Americans and human beings on the planet. Waiting for the supply vs demand arguments to come in but also know that you did it to yourself.
Lol you did it to yourself. Such an easy statement to make after you get a GC.
The truth is usually simple
Always been curious if folks were adequately informed when they sign up. Do folks know H1b is a non immigration work visa and the wait time for a green card is very long for several countries or is there a marketing campaign that suggests otherwise or downplays the downsides?
It's an exponential curve. The wait times were sane and became insane in a very short time. There are lesser Indians coming to the US as they realize what's the current situation. It hurts the folks who are in queue or just about to get into the queue for GC. These are folks who came to the U.S. in last 10 years.
Are you sure there are less? I've only heard of there not being enough h1b visas, neve hear of not enough supply?
"Increase the cap for Indian workers on H1b" 🤣🤣🤣 Why do you even comment on stuff you clearly have no clue about? You mention "core issue" and "core problem". Would you like to elaborate what you think that is?
If H1B was not spammable by throwing bodies at it but had a fair way to decide which 65K out of 350K deserve visa more, 80% of those backlogged Indians would not be in US in the first place, and none of these layoff/backlog/etc problems would exist.
Well put. good ol’ divide and conquer to weaken power of workers so as to exploit more easily
