H1Bs are slaves
If H1Bs are issued through lottery, then how come these companies end up being lucky all the time? Trump probably needs to impose a per-company limit for the lottery.
Because they flood the system with applications. Its a lottery so more application translates to more approvals.
Have two separate visa categories - one for body shops, another for genuinely skilled. Period!
Made a table showing the 2016 H1B salaries for the most commonly talked about companies on Blind. I added HFT companies too.
I don't understand, how is Facebook and Google so low? And PayPal is 4th really? I know so many who work at pay pal and their salary is not even close to fb or Google
exactly. I am at the lowest level at G and mine is at least 100k more than what is mentioned. I know lot more people who are in similar boat.
I would say just give Green Cards to ppl who have graduated from good schools. They will do the reverse: build companies and provide jobs! It's a phenomenal waste of all the energy/time spent in learning great stuff at the universities and end up joining some big companies to get a H-1B visa, file GC and get stuck in the rut. Instead give them the opportunity and resources to start companies right out of college. That will create more jobs.
wish they think like you.. however good schools list is too arbitrary. where do u draw the line ? each fields top 20 school may be a good start though
I think 20 is less. Probably 50-100. Beyond that don't even bother.
the conclusion from this data doesn't make sense because it doesn't take cost of living into account. most of the employees of body shops work in rural suburbia where 70k is probably a pretty good salary comparable to 100k+ in the bay area.

The job market is absolutely brutal right now
Is anyone surprised? The outsourcing companies pay peanuts, but the pay is very appropriate for the type of work they do. They don't need people who can think, they need people who can do what's been told.
