Here is my thoughts about immigration, logical analysis. 46% of H1B applicants are masters degree holders (2021 lottery) H1b is split between Product companies (FANG, any hot tech startup, most of silicon valley) vs Service companies (AMEX, Verizon, healthcare companies etc rest of the USA). Product companies/ Silicon Valley : 1.Product companies hire only high skill professionals who are paid very good. 2. You can't get a Software Engineering job in the Silicon valley without cracking Leetcode questions, so the quality is top notch. 3. Without immigrants the scale and speed of the companies in silicon valley will be greatly minimized. I personally know many immigrants who lead the charge of greatest innovation in silicon valley. 4. The CEO of Microsoft ,Google,Workday, Robinhood, Adobe etc etc are immigrants I am sure they are not "cheap labor", they came up by merit and so did rest of us. Heck even Steve Jobs is a 2nd gen immigrant and Sergey was born in Moscow. Service sector : 1. Certain companies need service oriented software engineers. They are not innovating in any way 2. They need the best possible talent at best possible rate, hence contractors and hence h1B through consultancies. (Oh yes we don't like consultancy abuses too, hate being stereotyped because of them, but what can we do ?humanity has its flaws and some people just want better life no matter what) Truth : 1. If 500K+ H1Bs who are here for 15+ years are given a friggn Green card based on merit, we would see way more startups in silicon valley, driving more jobs. Instead we are all hands tied unfortunately. 2.If you kick all immigrants out today. Your salary will reduce in contrast to the popular belief, because Apple, google microsoft and other tech companies won't be able to innovate and release products at the same rate, their scale and innovation would reduce hence their revenue and profits. Thus your salary would be reduced too. 3. Kicking out H1Bs will only create competition externally in Canada/India/China when they go back to their home country. It is a crappy situation to educate us and kick us out. Lastly, We are human beings just like you, we are not refugees, working together with us will make America greater and silicon valley more powerful than ever as we also want to be in this amazing country with amazing people around. We left our home country, family etc and came here just for the American dream, just like your ancestors did, so before you degrade someone next time, think of some of your immigrant friends and ask yourself if they deserve this bashing. Ask yourself if they made your country (GDP, economy) worse or better by living here? #h1b #immigrants
Very nicely written 👏
Very thoughtful 👏👏👏👏🙌
I guess, but I hope atleast one person changes his/her perspective after reading this.
🤮
I hope this it sarcastic Mr.Gandhi
H1 ban will lead to TC going up for everyone. Reduced supply.
Innovation will slow down without talent hence revenue generation is low, TC will go down drastically. You think Google apple etc can innovate and scale at this rate without immigrants ? Impossible
Americans don’t innovate is the message here
and you assumed life is fair
Definitely not fair :)
What makes you think innovation will slow down? Sure, the current jobs might ship overseas along with the talent. But in a decade, the jobs pretty much will get replenished in the US. And there will be a stable equilibrium. Then, some US president will pick some other immigrant group, to blame for the failures of the govt. Rinse and repeat.
In a decade ? I’m sure more than that but either way, world will change. Take a look at manufacturing, everything got outsourced to China, rest is history
I agree. Lots of manufacturing related jobs were lost in the US. But did that affect the country a lot? The unemployment was still at 2-3% before the pandemic. Am saying jobs will move into some other sector sooner or later. And US will have laws that will prevent abuse of the tech outsourcing if that were ever to happen at such a grand scale.
Great, keep voting for Trump and watching Fox News
Nicely written! Can you add \n under Truth after 1,2,3. Better readability ? Pretty sad that not one CEO or political leader speaks about this 500k people? Wish someone would make a movie on the kid who couldn’t participate in US olympics coz of his/parents status.

What do you think is wrong with a kid who got rejected by 9 colleges?
I very much agree with you and appreciate that someone is putting this out. How does one protest this move? CEOs are afraid to do anything and don’t seem to care as much. Only a twitter statement condoning move! Is that enough?
If you are affected by the EO join lawsuit. Here is one by a group who have been working to fix both the backlog and abuse. (s386 contains both provisions for fairness and whack ICC with 50/50 clause) Lawsuit addition link: https://twitter.com/immivoice/status/1275464822898003970?s=19
I hope they do more to spread awareness. It’s very complicated and long concept to grasp, need a smarter innovative way to drive the message
