I’m on H4 EAD which will be expiring on June 2020. I have applied for an extension and the biometric date was on 17th Mar. But due to COVID19 when I went to USCIS, it was closed. I have still not received new date for biometric. Now I’m worried that i have to leave my job after Jun. Is there any other options? Any advice? Anyone in the same situation? #workvisa #h4ead #h4eadprocessingtime
Option - No Advice - hang in there as we are all in this together,June is still few weeks away with few states opening slowly by May. You may miss few weeks of job awaiting the EAD receipt, better to have this talk with your managers. Situation - With recent tweet, all are in this situation now directly or indirectly.
Forget EAD , h1b May b at stake soon if not now
Can you work on receipt ?
Yes
Then just wait for receipt. You should be good
In same situation
When is your H4EAD expiring?
Mine expires 30 June and I had my biometrics on March 14 but USCIS was closed. Mine was H1 (premium, already approved for spouse) + H4 + EAD
This h4 ead needs to be revoked. We have 22 million Americans unemployed.
So you think the 22 million burger flippers who can't calculate change for a 2$ ice cream from a 5$ bill without using a calculator will be able to replace a tech worker... Dream on.
Is this stand alone ? Or Is your H4 ead filed along with h1 extension ?
It was filed along with H1 extension but H1 extension is already approved as it was premium processing.
Last week of February
Have you given biometrics before? Or is this your first H4 renewal after the biometric requirement came into effect?
For me it was suppose to be my first biometric after new process and I guess same for op. I was wondering can't they use the biometrics they take while giving h4 for the first time? I mean they obviously have our biometric, it's just new for renewal process
Ok. That’s what I thought. Uscis has not given any guidance on how they will process if they don’t have previous biometric (from ead) and many renewals fall under this category.
In same situation . H4 ead about to expire on June 20. Uscis now planning to open on June 4 . It’s shameful that uscis is blind to current circumstance and not providing any automatic extension of ead.
USCIS does not want to give H4 EAD so they try to delay. In this case there are 30m+ unemployed why they bother to give H4 EAD. Its in there last priority.
Okay so I should lose my job because others are losing their job ? What kind of logic is that ? I have come here as a legal immigrant and pay taxes.

Seriously guys, please subscribe to USCIS news and don’t ask the same dumb questions for which answers were there for months. https://www.uscis.gov/news/alerts/uscis-continue-processing-applications-employment-authorization-extension-requests-despite-application-support-center-closures
